The Asoka makeup trend already reached the local pageantry, with Miss Universe Philippines bet Ahtisa Manalo and Binibining Pilipinas candidate Flordeliz Mabao taking on the challenge.

The makeup challenge, based on the 2001 Bollywood film “Asoka,” features barefaced creators getting glammed up using fast-paced transitions.

Manalo and Mabao made a Filipino version of the trend, using Angeline Quinto’s “Piliin Mo ang Pilipinas” as the background music.

Manalo showed off her national costume “Whispers of Tayabak” which is “is a tribute to the enchanting biodiversity of Quezon Province,” as seen on her Instagram page on Sunday, April 28.

Mabao of Rizal province, meanwhile, transitioned to several costumes representing different ethnic groups in the country.

“[I] will always choose the Philippines, a country of vibrant culture and beautiful landscape,” she captioned her Instagram post.

Prior to these beauty queens, actress Ivana Alawi also took on the Filipino version of the makeup challenge. Her video has so far garnered over 31 million views and over 5 million likes.

Actress Marian Rivera has an entry as well, although hers is inspired by Marimar, her titular role in the 2007 Philippine remake of the 1994 Mexican drama “Marimar.”
