Karylle, Sue Ramirez, Nyoy Volante, and Reb Atadero have been tapped to headline the Manila staging of the Broadway musical “Little Shop of Horrors.”
The Sandbox Collective announced the cast line-up on Instagram on Monday, April 21, with the musical’s stylish poster.
“How far would you go for love?” they wrote in the caption. “When meek florist Seymour falls for his co-worker Audrey, love becomes a lot more gruesome than one would have expected.”
Karylle and Ramirez will both star as Audrey, while Volante and Atadero will play Seymour.
Karylle graced the stage as Baroness Elsa von Schraeder in the Manila run of “The Sound of Music” in 2023. Her other theater credits include “Contra Mundum: Ang All-Star Concert ng Ang Larawan,” “Isang Gabi ng Sarsuwela,” and “Rama Hari,” among others.
Atadero is currently playing Mark Cohen in 9 Works Theatrical’s “Rent.” In 2023, he portrayed Michael in 9 Works Theatrical’s “Tick, Tick, Boom!” M in The Sandbox Collective’s “Lungs,” and Mark in Upstart Productions’ “Breakups and Breakdowns.”
Volante, who was last seen on stage five years ago, playing Mitch Mahoney in The Sandbox Collective’s 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and Signor Adolfo Pirelli in Atlantis Theatrical’s “Sweeney Todd,” is set to make his comeback in theater.
Meanwhile, Ramirez is set to mark her theatrical debut as Audrey. She’s known for her TV and movie roles, including “The Iron Heart,” “The Broken Marriage Vow,” and the film “Rewind,” among others.
The rest of the cast has yet to be unveiled. The show will run from July to August 2024 at the Globe Auditorium, Maybank Performing Arts Theater, BGC. Exact show dates and ticket details will be released soon.
