“Kyrren” comeback? Former onscreen partners Darren Espanto and Kyline Alcantara found themselves being ‘shipped together once again when the latter visited “It’s Showtime,” where the actor-singer was a regular host.
In the April 10, 2024 episode of the noontime show, Alcantara did a song performance with singer Jeremy Glinoga. After the production number, Kim Chiu mentioned that while the Kapuso actress was performing, there was someone who was attentively watching her, referring to Espanto.
“Merong nakatingin sayo, hindi siya kumukurap. Darren!” teased Chiu. With Espanto responding, “Napaka OA bestie.”
Alcantara replied, shifting his look at Espanto, “Alam niyo po kung bakit? Kasi nga…” but did not continue what she was saying. Karylle then pointed out the enthusiastic fans of the two in the audience, holding banners with “Kyrren” written on them.
The “Iyo” singer expressed his happiness to see Alcantara being able to crossover to their show, with the Kapuso star echoing his statement.
Vice Ganda then remarked that the two should do a performance together, “Sa susunod, kayo raw ni Darren kumanta. Kanta raw kayo ‘We Are Family,’” gathering laughter from his co-hosts.
Alcantara tried to hold her laughter as Vice Ganda approached Espanto, initiating a high five while laughing, “Gusto mo ‘yun?”
Jhong Hilario pitched in, “Kyline, Darren, parang ang sarap sabihin na DarLine,”

Espanto and Alcantara gained a loyal following after having to work in a few music videos. Over the years, they’ve also treated the fans with their sweet moments off camera, showing off their genuine bond.
In a past interview, Espanto vaguely admitted that he and Alcantara briefly dated after he was asked before by the press if there was something romantic happening between them.
“Kyline and I are very close friends now, and ah, basta… Ano po ang masasabi ko lang ’yong mga fans talagang very alam nila ‘pag meron… Pero sa amin nalang ’yon [ni Kyline], sa amin nalang ’yon,” he said in 2020.
Meanwhile, the two of them were recently linked to Carmina Villarroel and Zoren Legaspi’s twins, Cassy and Mavy Legaspi.
In a recent interview, Espanto admitted that he and Cassy are just best friends despite the rumors linking the two of them together for years now.
After Espanto’s interview, eagle-eyed netizens noticed that Villaroel and Cassy posted cryptic messages on their Instagram story. Cassy shared Olivia Rodrigo’s song “Perfect Crime,” while Villaroel shared a quote, “Don’t expect the same in return,”

On the other hand, Alcantara and Mavy became a controversial topic last year after the latter got tied up with cheating allegations amid the rumors that they were in a relationship.
