Korean stars Bae Suzy and Lee Seung-gi‘s series “Vagabond” is set to film its second season in the Philippines, as revealed by former Ilocos Sur Gov. Chavit Singson, who will serve as one of the producers of the series.
In a media interview during the opening of one of the branches of his restaurant, Singson shared that the production of the popular Korean series is underway and will take the Philippines as one of its backdrops.
“‘Yung series na very popular sa Korea, ‘Vagabond’. Itutuloy dito. Nakatapos na sila, tapos ‘yung continuation, dito na sa Pilipinas kukunan,” he said.
(The series that is very popular in Korea, ‘Vagabond’, will be continued here. They have finished some parts, and then the continuation will be filmed here in the Philippines.)
“Tinatapos muna ‘yung istorya para may susundan sila. Unlike the others na kapag gumawa, hinuhulaan kung saan susunod, ‘yun ayaw nila, gusto nila kumpleto na ‘yung istorya,” added the politician.
(They are polishing the script first, so they will have something to follow. Unlike other productions, when doing a story, they tend to predict where it will go next; they don’t want that, so they want the story to be complete first.)
Singson also teased that Filipino actors will participate in special roles, and he himself will also be part of the production.
Released in 2019, “Vagabond” follows Cha Dal-gun (Lee), a stuntman who will be forced to team up with Go Hae-ri (Bae), a determined covert operative for the National Intelligence Service, discovers that the plane crash where Dal-gun’s nephew died was not caused by a machine malfunction but by hidden corruption that demands a dangerous investigation.
Aside from the high viewership, the first season of “Vagabond” took home awards from the SBS Drama Awards, bagging the Top Male Excellence Award in Miniseries for Lee, Top Female Excellence Award in Miniseries for Bae, Best Couple Award for both the lead stars, Best Supporting Actress for Moon Jeong-hee, and Hallyu Contents Award for the series itself.
