Male ‘Sang’gre’ Kelvin Miranda works hard to please ‘Encantadiks’
While there has been no official date for the release of the eagerly anticipated fantasy series “Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre” on the Kapuso network, Sparkle artist Kelvin Miranda said he is working hard to give justice to the role of a male gem protector, one of the four lead characters in the sequel.
“Ongoing ang trainings. May pressure din talaga. Sa dami ng tagahanga nito kailangan mo silang paligayahin lahat. So kailangan kong galingan, kailangang prepared ako sa gagawin ko (Trainings are ongoing. There really is pressure. With the show’s many fans, you have to make them all happy. So I have to do great and be prepared for what I will do),” he told INQUIRER.net on the sidelines of the opening of an aesthetics cafe in Quezon City.
Miranda said he never thought he would ever be cast as a “Sang-gre” or gem protector in a sequel to a series that he has seen as a child. “Kaya anlaki ng gulat ko na ako ang nakuha sa mga nag-audition bilang bagong tagapangalaga ng brilyante ng tubig. Nakaka-overwhelm kasi hindi lang dahil ikaw iyong gaganap, kasi maraming nag-aabang ng ‘Encantadia’ (That’s why I was so surprised that I was chosen out of all who auditioned as the protector of the water gem. It’s overwhelming not only because I will play the part, but also because so many have been waiting for “Encantadia”),” he said.
He also said having a male gem protector will offer a different dynamic among all the Sang’gres. The four lead characters in the various iterations of the “Encantadia” franchise have been portrayed by women.
Part of his preparations for the role is taking care of his health and well-being. “Siyempre kailangan munang i-pamper iyong internal. So kailangan pampalakas ng immune system, para kahit ma-stress kayo hindi kayo basta-basta maging mukhang pagod (Of course, we need internal pampering. So we have to boost our immune system so we won’t have to look tired even if we’re stressed),” Miranda said.

Aside from bagging the coveted role of Adamus, the protector of the water gem, for “Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre,” Miranda has also shot to prominence when his name was dragged in a blind item that says English musician Sam Smith allegedly paid a Filipino celebrity P2 million for two nights together. He has vehemently denied the insinuation.
He said he has worked hard for whatever he is enjoying at the moment, and he believes that the best way for him to earn millions quickly is through endorsements. “Wala namang easy money eh. Lahat iyan pinaghihirapan (There is no easy money. Everything is hard-earned),” Miranda said.
And if he were to receive P2 million, he said he would invest in a small business to jumpstart his enterprise. “Kasi sa panahong ngayon kailangan mo talagang maging praktikal eh, at tsaka alamin kung paano gastusin nang tama iyong pera. Kasi ang hirap kumita ng pera, sobra (Because you really have to be practical nowadays, and study how to spend money wisely. Because it’s really hard to earn money),” Miranda explained.
He said filming for the scenes with the show’s human characters has already begun late last year, and they are expected to start work with the enchanted characters this year. “Mga ‘Encantadiks’ (‘Encantada’ fandom), mga Kapuso (GMA viewers), mga kaibigan, mga kapwa, iniimbitahan ko kayo na subaybayan at abangan ang ‘Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre,’ malapit na po iyan this 2024 (Encantadiks, Kapuso, friends, fellowmen, I am inviting you to follow and watch out for ‘Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre,’ coming this 2024),” Miranda said.
