The team of news program “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho” (KMJS) strongly dismissed claims that its episode about the case of dog Killua justifies the cruelty of the perpetrator, stressing that they just aired the side of all the individuals involved for fair reporting.
The assailed episode, released last March 24, narrates what happened on the day of the incident. It includes CCTV footage and statements from the fur parent, the village watchman who killed Killua, and a witness who was said to be bitten by the dog.
After its airing, the episode earned polarizing sentiments from viewers, with some X (formerly Twitter) users expressing their disappointment over how the news program supposedly turned the perpetrator into a “hero.”
so no one's really gonna call out how biased was kmjs' episode about killua? anthony solares instantly became a hero pic.twitter.com/towsOCTn2m

KMJS making Kpop fans look horrible, and now they're siding with Killua's killer?? Wth do not watch that show anymore.
As early as now naghahanap sila clips and stories for halloween, mukhang pinaghahandaan nila. Wag panoorin halloween special nyan 🤡🤮

HAHAHAHAHAHA 🤣🤣 How ridiculous, just watched the recent #KMJS episode about the tragedy of Killua, I can't believe how they literally blurred out Anthony Solares' face and even changed his name for the sake of his "privacy" when everyone knows him already 😭😭 #JusticeForKillua

I happen to watch the KMJS segment about Killua (the dog) just now at galit na galit ako ngayon to the point na sana ‘di ko na lang napanood ‘to.

KMJS then addressed the matter via a statement released on its Facebook page on Sunday, March 31.
“Nakarating sa aming kaalaman ang saloobin ng ilang manonood na nagsasabing binibigyang-katwiran ng aming ulat ang ginawang pagpatay sa asong si Killua. Mariin po namin itong pinabubulaanan,” it said.
(It came to our knowledge that some viewers believe that our report justifies the killing of Killua. We strongly deny this.)
“Kagaya ng iba naming mga report, kinuha namin ang salaysay ng fur parent ni Killua, ng tanod, at iba pang nakasaksi sa pangyayari, sa ngalan ng patas na pamamahayag,” it noted.
(Just like our other reports, we included statements from Killua’s fur parent, from the village watchman, and others who witnessed the incident, for fair reporting.)
The show further pointed out that the segment gives emphasis on how dogs should not be killed even if it bit victims, the same way it urges the public as well to be responsible dog owners.
“Naninindigan ang KMJS na kailanman walang puwang ang animal cruelty sa ating lipunan,” it stressed. (KMJS remains firm that animal cruelty has no place in the society.)
