The team of news program “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho” (KMJS) strongly dismissed claims that its episode about the case of dog Killua justifies the cruelty of the perpetrator, stressing that they just aired the side of all the individuals involved for fair reporting.

The assailed episode, released last March 24, narrates what happened on the day of the incident. It includes CCTV footage and statements from the fur parent, the village watchman who killed Killua, and a witness who was said to be bitten by the dog.

After its airing, the episode earned polarizing sentiments from viewers, with some X (formerly Twitter) users expressing their disappointment over how the news program supposedly turned the perpetrator into a “hero.”

KMJS then addressed the matter via a statement released on its Facebook page on Sunday, March 31.

Mariin po namin itong pinabubulaanan,” it said.

(It came to our knowledge that some viewers believe that our report justifies the killing of Killua. We strongly deny this.)

(Just like our other reports, we included statements from Killua’s fur parent, from the village watchman, and others who witnessed the incident, for fair reporting.)

The show further pointed out that the segment gives emphasis on how dogs should not be killed even if it bit victims, the same way it urges the public as well to be responsible dog owners.

(KMJS remains firm that animal cruelty has no place in the society.)
