Han So-hee reiterated that her relationship with Ryu Jun-yeol did not overlap with his ex-girlfriend Hyeri, as opposed to what the lattermost apparently implied with her “funny” remark on the pair.
It can be recalled that after Han and Ryu’s dating speculations made rounds on social media, Hyeri made a cryptic post in which she wrote: “This is funny.” Netizens immediately speculated that Hyeri was alluding to the pair’s relationship.
Han spoke up anew to address the speculations surrounding her romance with Ryu, through a lengthy statement on her Instagram page on Friday, March 29. Han later removed her post, but screenshots of it have already been re-uploaded on X (formerly Twitter).
In her statement, Han stressed that the first time she met Ryu was in November 2023, which coincidentally is the same time his breakup with Hyeri was confirmed.
“I will ignore the ridiculous comments claiming that we were friends even before then. I had never met [Ryu] in public or in private, nor had I contacted him or known anyone in common,” she said, as translated by Korean media outlet Soompi to English.

Han, after saying she had apologized to Hyeri for reacting to the latter’s remark with another cryptic post, then admitted that she was confused as to what the “Reply 1988″ actress found “funny” in her relationship with Ryu.
“What I don’t understand is that I want to ask [Hyeri] what was so funny about the fact that her ex got a new girlfriend,” Han wrote.
“Why did she transform the content of the text message, which was not for the purpose of reunion, into a text message full of lingering attachment, and give the title of ‘transfer love’ to [Ryu’s] new romantic relationship that occurred four months [after their breakup], then remain silent,” she continued.
In another English translation by entertainment website Allkpop, Han reportedly said that she had reached out to Hyeri but to no avail.
“I am also frustrated about the fact that one person involved in this matter is maintaining silence,” Han noted, seemingly referring to Ryu.
“In the end, what I am trying to say is that they were long broken up, but the news reports of their breakup did not go public until November. This is fact, no matter what insiders from that company or my company say otherwise,” she stressed, speaking of Ryu and Hyeri’s breakup.
Prior to this, Hyeri apologized for the speculations and controversies that stemmed from her expression of emotions.
She also disclosed that she had an agreement with Ryu to discuss their relationship after their breakup, but that it did not happen since they haven’t been in contact.
Ryu still hasn’t commented on the matter as of this writing.
