American actress Blake Lively apologized for “mocking” Kate Middleton’s failed attempt at Photoshop, after the Princess of Wales released a video announcing her cancer diagnosis.

On Instagram, the “Gossip Girl” actress said she was “mortified” for joining the frenzy of poking fun at the viral editing and extended her “well wishes” to the royal family.

“I’m sure no one cares today but I feel like I have to acknowledge this. I made a silly post about the “photoshop fails” frenzy, and oh man, that post has me mortified today. I’m sorry. Sending love and well wishes to all, always,” she wrote.

Last week, Lively shared an edited photo to promote her sparkling-mixer company, alluding to the controversy surrounding Kate’s Mother’s Day photo, which the royal admitted she had edited after netizens pointed out the errors in the image.

The British royal family has been under public scrutiny after the whereabouts of the Princess of Wales got tied to a series of controversies. The online community speculated that the photos and videos being released by the palace were artificial intelligence (AI)-manipulated.

However, on Friday, March 22, Kate addressed the public and revealed that she underwent surgery after getting diagnosed with cancer, which explains her absence and recent actions, as she remarked that they were “taking the time” to process the matter and to explain the situation to their children.

Meanwhile, Academy Award winner Jamie Lee Curtis also took to Instagram to defend the Princess of Wales and asked the public to stop the controversies now that Kate has revealed her condition.

“Can we please just STOP with this bullshit conspiracy theory? This is a human being with young children, and clearly some sort of a health issue. That is a private matter. Do we not have better things to do and more important things to think about and be concerned about than this? It’s a really low point in our society when there are SO MANY crucial issues that need our attention,” she remarked.
