Anji Salvacion: No turning back on acting despite ‘Linlang’ backlash

Anji Salvacion said she’s not closing her doors on acting despite criticisms she received for her performance in “Linlang.”
Salvacion – who starred as the sister of Kim Chiu’s character in the series – said there’s no turning back as she asserted she was not traumatized by the backlash she got on social media.
“I’m not closing my doors. I might do another musical if you want to kasi it’s an experience and an opportunity for me to learn,” she said in a Star Magic media conference via ABS-CBN News’ YouTube video. “Hindi [ako na-trauma]. Kung na-trauma ako, wala ako dito. Open na open.”

Salvacion then clarified that she doesn’t want to be “back with a vengeance” in her next acting project. She said she just wants to show a more improved version of herself, adding that she would rather focus on the constructive criticism rather than the negative comments.
“No matter what I’m going to do, the bashers will still hate me. It’s more of me. Ang totoong kalaban natin sa buhay ay ang sarili natin. I will fight my inner demons and punch them in the face,” she said in an ambush interview.

The “Pinoy Big Brother” alum pointed out that the “Linlang” cast was given a “short time to prepare” and the scripts were “given late” – nevertheless, it proved to be a learning experience for her.
“We were given a short time to prepare and the scripts were given late,” she said. “You have to act the character and I knew that I wasn’t vulnerable much [in ‘Linlang’]. I felt the vulnerability more when I trained for ‘Tabing Ilog’ musical, and it really helped. I’m doing workshops na.”

Anji’s singing career
Salvacion also revealed that she’s “focusing on [her] music,” saying it’s her longtime dream. “As of now, I will focus on my music because it’s the very first dream I had since 2019 in ‘Idol Philippines.’ And this is it – I’m starting with ‘Grit’.”
“I want to push forward with my dream and I’m so excited to release new songs,” she continued, noting her EP “Grit” that was released in February.
She further said she desires to be “versatile” as an artist as it’s one of the factors that makes an artist last in showbiz.
“We have to be versatile in this kind of work. We have to do acting, singing, and dancing because it’s really needed for you to stay,” she said.
