As reported by Variety, the series’ official logline is based on the premise of the game. “Members of your crew have been replaced by an alien shapeshifter intent on causing confusion, sabotaging the ship, and killing everyone. Root out the ‘Impostor’ or fall victim to its murderous designs,” the magazine wrote.
The series is said to have started its early development in 2023, led by CBS Studios and its animation arm, Eye Animation Productions. In late January, Innersloth and CBS released a teaser image for the show.
The “Among Us” online game rose to fame during the pandemic. In 2020, mobile app insights provider Apptopia released a list of the most downloaded mobile apps and games worldwide, with “Among Us” at No. 1 with 264 million downloads.
During its peak, Filipino celebrities including Donny Pangilinan, Kyline Alcantara, Bretman Rock, Niana Guererro and Alodia Gosiengfia, among others, played the popular online game.
The “Among Us” TV show has yet to receive its release date.
