Award-winning Filipina singer Kuh Ledesma said she does not intend to retire from her music career or even holding her final concert amid her fellow singer Gary Valenciano’s pronouncement that he would be holding his last concert.
Sitting down on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” on Friday, March 8, the “Dito Ba” singer was asked if she also intended to retire or hold her final concert in the future.
“No. It’s not in the Bible,” she replied.
Ledesma explained that one can feel tired but that it’s important to know how to acknowledge the need for rest and give it all up to the Lord.
“Rest in the Lord. Magbakasyon ka (Take a vacation). Read the Scriptures. Meditate on the promises of God. Take care of your physical health,” she said.
The “OPM’s Pop Chanteuse” underscored that when she heard that Valenciano was planning to hold his supposedly final concert, she refused to believe it, saying that maybe he shouldn’t have to.
“He’s still too young unless it’s a health issue. He doesn’t have to say his last because he’s so close to the Lord. The Lord can renew your strength and all that,” she remarked.
Valenciano clarified in his recent interview with Ogie Diaz that he had no plans to retire from his music career but that he has no more desire to hold concerts in bigger venues, which explains the title of his next concert, “Pure Energy, One Last Time.”
Meanwhile, Ledesma shared that looking after one’s physical health is the advice she could give to aspiring musicians that she mentors, as well as building a relationship with the Creator.
“To take care of themselves physically. When it comes to a singer, you have to be physically strong. Mahirap kumanta ng magaling na mahina ang katawan (It is difficult to sing well with a weak body),” she said.
“Now having a relationship with Jesus Christ, I tell them you will even get further if you have that relationship because He opens doors for you. He guides You. You will be a lover of God and a lover of man and that will invite people to help open doors for you,” added the singer.
Ledesma will hold her next concert titled “3:16 Songs and Stories” on March 16.
