Gary Valenciano says he has no plans to retire from music
Gary Valenciano clarified that he won’t be retiring from music amid rumors that he will be conducting his last concert in April.
Given that his next concert is titled “Pure Energy, One Last Time,” it fueled speculations that he would be stepping back from performing. But the award-winning singer affirmed that there’s no truth to this.
“I did not say I was going to retire. Hindi ako mag-reretire. I think kung ‘yan ang ginawa ko pati si Lord magsasabi, ‘Wait, anak, teka sandali. Hindi mo pa panahon para mag-retire,’” he said to Ogie Diaz.
(I did not say I was going to retire. I will not retire. I think if that’s what I did, even the Lord would say, ‘”Wait, son, wait a minute. It’s not time for you to retire.”)
Valenciano stressed that for as long as he’s living, he intends to create music.

However, the “Sana Maulit Muli” singer underscored that performing in bigger venues and giving his all-out energy are about to end, as he stressed that he is not getting any younger.
“But at this age, I think it’s time that I will move on to continue with my music but maybe in smaller venues.. There’s a big difference kasi with a big venue and an intimate venue,” he said.
“For me, it’s the right time. Is it gonna be the end? No. But it will be the end of something. I will be the end of a chapter. It won’t be the end of a book. Then you’ll open up new chapters,” added the singer.
Valenciano remarked that his aim to inspire people through his music has remained the same, even if he intends to no longer perform in bigger venues.
“I may be Mr. Pure Energy but I’m also human,” he concluded.
