“I still remember the first time I saw you in 2002 or 2003 in GMA. There was a shoot with all of the artists and you were standing in line like everyone else. I looked at you and immediately wanted to hug you because you reminded me of my mom who I just lost in 2001,” she began.

The “Encantadia” star reminisced about the projects where she got to work with Jose and stressed the bond they have created.

“You treated me like a daughter and I looked up to you as a mentor and mother. Jane Guck or Nanay Jane I would fondly call you. Our shared love for tequila and rockstars made us click. You were both generous and kind with your words of encouragement and support be it on- or off-cam. You were also very stern when you needed to be. That’s one of the best things about you — napakatotoo mo,” she said.

Calzado recalled the last time she saw the veteran actress and remarked that she could have hugged her tighter, then went on to extend her sympathies to the loved ones that Jose left behind, especially her daughter.

“It has been an honor and great pleasure to know you and cross paths with you in this lifetime. Pahinga ka na. Until the next one. P.S. Taos pusong pakikiramay sa iyong mga mahal sa buhay lalo na sayo baby girl (Eigenmann),” she concluded.

Eigenmann responded and wrote, “Love you ate Iza. Yakap [hug] (heart symbol),”

Meanwhile, Romana posted a photo from one of the scenes in the movie “Minsan May Isang Puso” where she got to work with Jose. In her caption, she expressed: “Lost another true icon. Tita Jane, I remember all the laughter, the lessons you generously taught me as a young actor back when we were shooting this movie in 2001 and for our May Minamahal remake. Mahal kita at laging yayakap ng mahigpit. [I love you and always sending the tightest hug] You will never be forgotten,”

On the other hand, Claudine Barretto also detailed the “unbearable pain” she’s feeling on losing her former co-star and second mom.

“Everything is painful,” she wrote. “I will miss you coming up to my room, tulog ako tatabihan mo ako. Kapag nagising ako sasabihin mo, ‘Anak na miss ka lang ni Nanay. Nandito lang ako, tulog ka pa ‘di ako aalis ng ‘di kita napapatulog.’”

(I will miss you coming up to my room when I’m asleep and you will lay beside me. When I wake up, you will say, “Child, mom just misses you. I’m just here. Go sleep some more; I’ll never leave until you fall back to sleep again.”)

The “Lover and Liars” actress detailed how the renowned late actress took care of her and appealed that she be given the strength to carry on amid the unfathomable loss.

“Nay tulungan mo ako pls. I love you sobra Nay. Ang ilap ng tadhana para sa ating dalawa. Ang sakit sakit Nay. Miss na miss kita. I’m sorry ‘di kita naramdaman gaya ng dati. Ikaw bilang nanay ko alam mo may mali nandito ka kaagad. Mahal na mahal kita Nay,” expressed Barretto.

(Mom, help me, please. I love you so much, mom. Life is so cruel to both of us. It hurts so much. I miss you. I’m sorry, I couldn’t feel you like before. You, as my mom, can always sense when there’s something wrong with me; you are always there. I love you so much, mom.)

“I bid farewell to a remarkable soul whose exceptional talent graced the small screen in MMK episodes I’ve had the privilege to host. Here are just a few moments that barely capture her brilliance—an actress whose performances captivated our hearts. The final photo celebrates the journey we shared. More than the accolades, it was her warmth, professionalism, and respect that truly set her apart,” wrote Santos.
