Ariana Grande joked about putting behind bars those fans who would leak her yet unreleased music, specifically her most recent track “Fantasize.”

In an interview with Zang Sang Show, the “Thank You, Next” singer addressed the obsession of some fans with the leaked demo of “Fantasize” and shared it wasn’t technically “her song” for it to be released without consent.

“I’ll see you in jail. Literally,” Grande said jokingly. “The thing is that those were all written for a TV show. Something that was not for me so ‘Fantasize’ comes out crazy, was stolen [by] thieves, pirates, crooks, illegal. I’ll pay you more to put it away like to get it back. That wasn’t my song that wasn’t for me.”

FEATURED STORIES

Grande underscored that because of the leak she was prompted to feature a different version of the song in her upcoming album

“It was like a parody of this girl group vibe. But [the fans] love it… It’s so corny, but it’s okay. I took the note and I kind of gave them Ariana’s version of that on the album. They’re completely different now. So although you’ve heard them because you stole them they’re very different now,” she said.

Last year, “Fantasize” was leaked on Spotify by user named Adriana Venti. The song gathered around 70,000 streams and reportedly made it to the Philippines’ Spotify Daily Top Songs list before the music streaming platform took it down.

The leaked demo of “Fantasize” also went viral on TikTok after a sexy dance inspired it. In September, a screenshot of Grande commenting over the leaked music circulated online as the “Break Free” singer urged the public to stop releasing her songs.

“Oh, this is so disheartening. I was going to come back to this hook to use eventually. I don’t know how people are still doing this, but please stop,” wrote Grande in the alleged screenshot.
