Janella Salvador admitted she was saddened when her supposed girl love movie with Jane De Leon did not push through.

Sitting down for “On Cue,” after her recent contract signing with her home network, Salvador revealed there was already a GL movie pitched to them that was supposed to be in the works but got dropped along the way.

“I actually got sad kasi we were actually supposed to do a GL na, as in na-pitch na siya samin. There were a little bumps along the way, with approvals and all of that, ‘yung sa side ng mga yes and no. But in the end, we both said yes na, pero hindi siya nagmove past that,” she shared.

The “Killer Bride” actress affirmed that she joins fans in requesting and waiting for the GL project to happen in the future.

“I don’t know. Siguro ‘di pa lang siya natutuloy pero na sad ako pero nahappy ako nung inoffer ‘tong How to Be a Good Wife samin. But of course, I’m aware everyone’s waiting for the GL. Trust me, we’re both waiting,” she said.

The fans’ campaign for Salvador and De Leon’s GL movie started when they starred in the 2022 reiteration of Mars Ravelo’s Darna. Despite portraying them as enemies, with De Leon as Darna and Salvador as Valentina, the viewers were captivated by the unexpected on-screen chemistry of the two actresses.

In an interview with the Philippine Daily Inquirer last year, De Leon weighed in on her chemistry with the “Be Careful with My Heart” actress, saying they would give the fans what they wanted as long as it made them happy.

“This was totally unexpected. I asked people about this and they said the audience is actually feeling the kilig, that Jea and I have chemistry. If this is what the audience wants, then we will gladly give it to them. We want to make them happy, to keep them entertained. It’s not usual that people have this clamor, especially from younger fans,” remarked the actress.

Meanwhile, Salvador underscored that she wants to accurately portray and represent the LGBTQ community with respect, given that they rarely get proper representation in local media.

“I really feel happy to represent the LGBTQ community. Kaya nila kami kinapitan kasi hindi sila na-represent nang maayos in terms of women’s love. I’m glad they did because I want to be the voice of people who aren’t represented and I love the community,” she said.

Salvador and De Leon are set to reunite in the upcoming dark comedy thriller film “How to Be a Good Wife.”
