SB19’s Josh had nothing but good words to say to Elvin Santos — who goes by the name Yuridope — after working together on the remix version of the P-pop star’s single “Get Right.”
The “Get Right” remix, which was released on Feb. 18, was a collaboration between Josh and Yuridope which is said to be an “inter-genre” mix of their artistic prowess. This, among other things, made the SB19 member believe it to be an opportunity for “new connections and possibilities.”
“This collaboration opens doors to new connections and possibilities, enriching our musical journey and expanding our reach. With this remix, we’re kicking off a larger journey, pioneering a unique sub-genre I’d like to call ‘hip-pop’ which promises to bring even more innovation and excitement to the music scene,” he said in a release.
Apart from Yuridope’s talent, Josh also praised the rapper for being “genuine” and being open to new ideas, as the remix single was done with the help of music producer Cursebox as well.
“[Yuridope] is not just talented. He is genuine. And that verse of his? It was like he blinked and boom, and it was done. Literal na naglabada lang,” he said. “Cursebox deconstructed the beat, experimenting with sounds and rhythms to breathe new life into the track.”
The single was also a fruit of Josh, Yuridope, and Cursebox’s efforts to “bridge the gap” between hip-hop and pop.
“Throughout the process, we provided feedback, ensuring the arrangement aligned with our vision. In the end, Cursebox’s unique touch added depth to the song, elevating it to new heights while respecting its roots,” Josh shared.
Josh dropped the original version of “Get Right” in December 2023 which is a culmination of his love for the EDM (electronic dance music) genre.
The song is the SB19 member’s fourth offering as a solo artist after “Wild Tonight,” “Pakiusap Lang,” and “Sofa (Remix).”
