Miss World 2024: Gwendolyne Fourniol dazzles in pre-pageant fashion
Gwendolyne Fourniol set foot in India with a clear goal of bringing home the Philippines’ second Miss World crown, as can be seen in her glamorous ensembles before the pageant’s preliminary competition and coronation night.
Almost two years had passed since Fourniol’s coronation as the country’s representative to the 71st Miss World competition after the pageant’s repeated changes in schedule. She ultimately flew to New Delhi in India weeks ahead of the coronation on March 9 (March 10 in the Philippines).
Her long wait was worth it as Fourniol stunned fans with a colorful national costume by Louis Pangilinan, which is a tribute to “Hiligaynon’s authentic Ilonggo textiles,” as seen on her Instagram account on Tuesday, Feb. 20.
The ensemble — adorned with glass beads, sequins, and Swarovski crystals — was finished with a metal crown headpiece with matching fans in the shape of sun rays.

Fourniol also looked breathtaking in a bedazzled tube gown in her official headshot for the pageant.

The beauty queen also showed her composure despite a 13-hour flight, landing at the Indira Gandhi International Airport earlier this week in a two-piece hot pink dress with gold swirl patterns.

Pink seems to be one of Fourniol’s favorite colors as she rocked a two-piece hot pink dress with a halter neckline and ruffled skirt during the pageant’s opening dinner.

In another pre-pageant activity, Fourniol looked regal in another cut-out maxi dress in blue and white as she and her fellow candidates enjoy Indian cuisine and learn about the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi.

Megan Young remains the only Filipina to have been crowned Miss World when she bagged the title in 2013.
Catriona Gray came close to winning the title in 2016 when she ended up in the Top 5. She was eventually crowned as Miss Universe two years later.
Fourniol’s predecessor Tracy Maureen Perez ended her Miss World journey at the Top 13, although she ended up as the winner of its Beauty with a Purpose segment.
