Kyla disclosed that she had another miscarriage just before Christmas last year, with the singer turning emotional as she apologized to her son Toby for not being able to give him a sibling.
The R&B singer shared the unfortunate news during an episode of the morning talk show “Magandang Buhay” on Wednesday, Feb. 21, where she was accompanied by her husband Rich Alvarez.
“For us ‘yung biggest challenge would be giving Toby a sibling,” she opened up when asked about the challenges they have faced in their years of marriage. “We’ve been struggling for years and years and years.”
“It’s been really hard, especially very recent lang ‘yung sa amin eh. Just before Christmas actually I suffered another [miscarriage],” she revealed. “‘Yun ‘yung biggest challenge.”
Despite this, Kyla underscored that she’s still filled with gratitude for being blessed with her only son. “Kung madadagdagan pa, bonus na lang ‘yon.”
“Siguro kaya rin [si Rich] ‘yung binigay sa akin ni Lord kasi I don’t think anyone would love me like the way he loves me or ever will love me,” she stated. “Siya lang talaga yung magmamahal sa akin ng ganito. So I am just really thankful.”

During the interview, Kyla also shed tears as she spoke about Toby and how she values him more than anything.
“I just feel so lucky and blessed that we have you, anak. You are an amazing kid,” she addressed her son. “Whether or not magkakaroon ka ng sibling or ano—sorry that we couldn’t give it to you. But I love you so much and now, you have all our attention.”
“Ikaw talaga, ikaw ‘yung greatest gift sa amin ng daddy mo. So thank you, Lord, dahil binigay ka Niya sa amin,” she added.

Kyla and Alvarez tied the knot in 2011, then welcomed Toby in 2013. Kyla suffered two miscarriages back in 2018, had another one in July 2021, then a fourth in 2022.
In one of her Instagram posts in December last year, the singer admitted that she had been feeling “miserable” but that she chose to focus on the things she’s grateful for.
