Janno Gibbs says he owes his career to Manilyn Reynes

Janno Gibbs credited his former love team, Manilyn Reynes, for the blossoming of his career, as he stressed that they have remained good friends through all these years.

Interviewed by Maricel Soriano, the actor-singer looked back on his on-screen partnership with Reynes and said he’s indebted to the actress for the contribution their loveteam made to his career. 

“Sa totoo lang utang na loob ko kung ano man ako ngayon kay Manilyn kasi kung wala siya, dinala niya ako, siya ‘yung sikat non. Sikat na siya noon nung naging loveteam kami,” he remarked. 

Gibbs then expressed his continued admiration to his former real-life girlfriend, “Nakakatuwa na hanggang ngayon we’re good friends. We love singing together. Ang ganda ng boses ni Mani. Napakaganda ng boses at napakaganda ng mukha.” 

The “Fallen” singer then noted how fans showed their support to their favorite loveteams before, as they had to be physically there to support their idols. 

“Ikukumpara ko na lang sa loveteams ngayon. Malayo kasi ngayon karamihan sa fans ng loveteam nasa social media na lang, nasa malayo sila nagtetext ‘love namin kayo.’ Noon wala tayong ganon, kailangan puntahan nila tayo,” he said. 

The actor’s separation from Reynes was the talk of the town in the ’80s, especially when the actor got into a relationship with Bing Loyzaga, who’s his current wife and with whom he has two children.

In 2021, the trio got to work together in the comedy superhero movie “Mang Jose,” but Reynes and Loyzaga said they never had an issue despite the love triangle.

“Kung gaano katagal ‘yung issue, ganun katagal na rin namin siyang iniwan. And besides, we never had an issue—there were no conversations or fights. It was just blown out of proportion,” said Reynes, who’s married to Aljon Jimenez, with whom she has three kids.
