Joseph Quinn, Vanessa Kirby, Pedro Pascal, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach have officially been announced as the lead cast of Marvel’s upcoming film “The Fantastic Four.”

On Wednesday, Feb. 14 (US time), Marvel Studios unveiled a Valentine-themed retro-style artwork as they named the four actors who have been cast to play MCU’s (Marvel Cinematic Universe) First Family.

Stranger Things’ alum Quinn has been tapped to play Johnny Storm (aka The Human Torch); Kirby, who rose to fame for her role as Princess Margaret in the first two seasons of The Crown, will assume the role of Sue Storm (aka the Invisible Woman); Pascal, who recently received acclaim for his roles in The Mandalorian and The Last of Us, will bring Reed Richards (aka Mr. Fantastic) to life; and Moss-Bachrach, who is currently part of The Bear’s ensemble, will play Ben Grimm (aka The Thing) for Marvel.

Kirby took to Instagram to share the news and her enthusiasm to play the Marvel superhero. She wrote, “Happy Valentine’s Day, everybody. From our family to yours. [I am] very honored to take on Sue Storm, Marvel’s OG lady since 1961. I hope to do her justice.”

The upcoming The Fantastic Four will be the fourth iteration of the story, given that the superheroes have been played by different actors over the years. Sue Storm was first portrayed by Jessica Alba and Kate Mara; Reed Richards was first brought to life by Ioan Gruffud and Miles Teller; Johnny Storm was previously portrayed by Chris Evans and Michael B. Jordan; and Ben Grimm was initially played by Michael Chiklis and Jamie Bell.

In 2022, Ant-Man 3 director Peyton Reed shared to Somos Geeks his excitement for The Fantastic Four production, saying he was fortunate to get a glimpse of the concept art and was very impressed by what he saw.

“Matt Shakman (director) is gonna do great.. I’ve seen initial artwork for the Fantastic Four – stuff around the Marvel offices… it’s gonna be great,” he teased at the time.

The Fantastic Four has been rescheduled for a July 25, 2025 release.
