Carla Abellana offered words of affirmation to fellow celebrities going through a breakup as she recalled how she got through her own experience following her separation from Tom Rodriguez.
Speaking to the press during Mega Magazine’s event, the Kapuso actress looked back on how she nursed her broken heart in the past, stressing that, at the time, she also thought she wouldn’t recover.
“Honestly ni hindi ko nga na-picture itong araw na ito. ‘Yung being okay. Standing on your own two feet. Moving on. Going back kapag iniisip mo ‘yung mga panahon na ‘yon honestly hindi mo mapipicture ‘yung bukas,” she said.
(Honestly, I didn’t even imagine [reaching] this day. You are okay. Standing on your own two feet. Moving on. Going back when you’re experiencing [that] and you’re thinking, you would think there’s no tomorrow.)
Abellana underscored that she feels nothing but gratitude for having to recover from that experience of heartbreak and finding the courage to face life again.
“Hindi mo alam where you’ll be, what you’ll be doing, how you’ll be but ako I’m just grateful. Of course, there’s nothing wrong looking back but then I’m just grateful na nandito na ako today, kaya ko na humarap sa mundo,” shared the actress.
(You don’t know where you’ll be, what you’ll be doing, or how you’ll be, so I’m just grateful. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with looking back, but then I’m just grateful because I’m finally here today, with the courage to face the world again.)
The “Stolen Life” actress stressed that everyone going through a breakup would think it’s impossible to move on, but it gets better.
“Kahit sino naman kaya. It may seem impossible, talagang difficult, kailangang pagdaanan ‘yon pero kumbaga may katapusan ‘yan. There’s still something to look forward to,” she affirmed.
(Everyone can do it as well. It may seem impossible. It will be difficult, but it’s something that one needs to experience, but it will end. There would be something to look forward to again.)
In October 2021, Abellana married Rodriguez after being boyfriend-girlfriend for seven years, but after three months, the two separated, creating a series of controversies. In July 2022, their divorce became final.
The “My Husband’s Lover” actor recently went back to the Philippines, making his return to showbiz through a TV appearance. Abellana said in a previous interview that she is ready to face her former husband if they “cross paths” again.
The Philippine entertainment industry has been witnessing a series of celebrity couple breakups since last year. Among the celebrities who have called it quits so far are Kathryn Bernardo-Daniel Padilla, Bea Alonzo-Dominic Roque, Kim Jones-Jericho Rosales, Kim Chui-Xian Lim, and many others.
