Miss Universe Organization (MUO) CEO Amy Emmerich announced that she would step down from her position on March 1. However, she clarified that she will continue to take on an “advisory role.”
Emmerich made the announcement on her LinkedIn account on Thursday, Feb. 8, as she expressed her pride in the MUO’s dedication to establishing a platform that “matters to women worldwide.”
“Sharing the news that my last day as CEO of the Miss Universe Organization will be March 1st, but I look forward to continuing in an advisory role for the next few months. This was an incredible experience, and I’m so proud of this team’s accomplishments during my tenure,” she said.
Emmerich’s announcement marks the latest string of developments in the MUO after Thai business mogul Anne Jakrajutatip sold 50% of the company’s total shares to Rocha-owned Mexican asset allocation company Legacy Holding in a bid for “strategic investment” last month.
Also in January, Filipina-American entrepreneur Olivia Quido-Co was confirmed as the vice president for global partnerships of the organization.
Reshaping MUO
The media executive also spoke about the MUO’s accomplishments such as reshaping the brand into an organization that “advocates for a future forged by women. “We created new business lines, grew revenue, managed through two acquisitions, created a digital-first organization, and reshaped this iconic brand for a new era — a program that advocates for a future forged by women.”
“Over the past two years, we’ve seen incredible growth, not only in our numbers but in the attributes that really matter to women worldwide,” she continued.
Emmerich hopes the MUO will take on a more “modern outlook” and will resonate with the “next generation of fans” while listing the MUO’s many achievements.
“We saw our first moms compete and make it to the finals. Our first married women, our first plus-size delegate, our first trans woman to make it to the Top 20 and already for 2024 women of all ages are competing at national levels,” she said. “Not only have we left the business in a stronger place, but we’ve left the program with the kind of goodwill and modern outlook that can transition to the next generation of fans.”
The media executive expressed her gratitude to MUO co-owners Anne Jakrajutatip and Legacy Holding’s Raul Rocha for tapping her to service “thousands of exceptional women.”
“I thank Anne and Raul for asking me to partner with new management in this advisory role as we continue to serve the hundreds of franchise partners, millions of dedicated global fans, and of course the thousands of exceptional women who are the heartbeat of this organization,” she said.
