Julia Barretto takes breakup rumors with Gerald Anderson as ‘compliment’

Julia Barretto said she and her boyfriend Gerald Anderson are still going strong despite recent breakup rumors, which she considers a “compliment” as they were able to keep the real status of their relationship to themselves.
During an interview with “Magandang Buhay” on Tuesday, Feb. 6, Barretto humored the question about her supposed split from Anderson, saying she has no idea where the rumors came from.
“Parang gan’un ang balita every month for how many years na talaga. Hindi ko rin talaga alam kung saan nanggagaling (Those are the news for every month for how many years),” she said. “But I think I will just take it as a compliment.”
The actress pointed out that she and Anderson “consciously” opt to keep their relationship “private.”
“I guess we’re able to create that private bubble of ours na hindi na nila alam kung ano ang masyadong nangyayari sa partnership namin (I guess we’re able to create that private bubble of ours where no one knows much what happens in our partnership), she said.
Barretto also shared that she and Anderson are not fond of “oversharing” details about their relationship since they want to protect what they have.
“And I think that’s also a conscious effort on our end na talagang protektahan na hindi kailangang mag-overshare. Hindi dapat bawat galaw ay kailangan alam ng lahat. So siguro that’s why they think. But happy lang [kami],” she said.

During a previous interview, Julia’s older sister Dani said she approves of the actor for Julia as they were able to help each other grow for the better.
In March 2021, Anderson confirmed that he’s in a “very happy relationship” with Barretto. He also said that he sees the actress as someone he’ll marry although he has yet to pop the question.
