Bea Alonzo has returned Dominic Roque’s engagement ring — Boy Abunda
Bea Alonzo has returned the engagement ring given to her by her fiance, Dominic Roque, according to veteran TV host Boy Abunda, per unnamed sources close to the actress.
“Kung tama ang aking source, isinoli na ni Bea ang kanyang engagement ring. But are they hoping? Ang hula ko, yes,” Abunda said on the Feb 6 episode of his show biz talk show on GMA.
(If my source is right, Bea already returned her engagement ring. But are they hoping [for a reconciliation]? My guess is, yes.)
Abunda also said he received reports that a clause in the prenuptial agreement between the two parties seemingly threw a wrench into their wedding plans that eventually resulted in the rumored split.
‘Yung prenup ang medyo na-shock ako. Ang alam ko kasi, many months ago, napag-usapan na ‘to sa aking pagka-alam,” he said.

When this was being talked about, ‘yung prenup, ang nag-volunteer sa nanay ni Bea, this prenup, ay si Dominic. And I don’t think it was an issue unless nabago ‘yung kwento. It was not an issue to be fair to Dominic. It was not an issue for Dominic,” he continued.

And I don’t think it was an issue unless the story changed. It was not an issue before, to be fair to Dominic. It was not an issue for Dominic.)
Talks about the couple having a prenup swirled among entertainment circles after showbiz writer and talent manager Ogie Diaz said this in his vlog.
No Tagaytay wedding
Meanwhile, Abunda debunked claims that Alonzo and Roque were to wed in Tagaytay sometime in April.
“Did they call off the wedding? Yes. Pero marami na kasi ang lumalabas na April ang wedding, sa Tagaytay ang wedding, cinancel ang wedding,” he said. “There was no April. There was no wedding in Tagaytay that was cancelled.”
The columnist also recalled him and Alonzo talking about her wedding plans with Roque, saying the ex-partners were supposed to tie the knot “towards the end of the year.” They also did ocular visits in Europe and Japan before their breakup.
“Bea and I would often talk about the wedding towards the end of the year, the last quarter of the year. Pero as of now, wala. Walang wedding po na magaganap ngayong darating na Abril because in the first place, there was no wedding in April and it was not going to be in Tagaytay,” he said.
“As originally talked about, nag-ocular ang dalawa sa Europa and may mga lumalabas na kwento that they went to Japan. Tama po ‘yun. They were trying to talk things out,” he further explained.

‘Exercise kindness’
The entertainment columnist then appealed for kindness as he stressed that Alonzo and Roque didn’t deserve to be judged for their respective status in life and love before they started dating.
“Dito sa kwentong ito, ang pinapalabas ay may problema si Bea Alonzo kasi naghiwalay sila nina Gerald Anderson, Zanjoe Marudo, and hindi nagtatagal ang kanyang mga relasyon. To me, napaka judgmental n’un,” he said.
(In this story, Bea Alonzo is painted as the one at fault as she previously broke up with Gerald Anderson and Zanjoe Marudo, and her relationships didn’t last long. To me, that’s judgmental.)
Abunda also pointed out that anyone has the “freedom to comment” about their relationship but no one knows the details except Alonzo and Roque themselves.
“You and I have the freedom to comment. We have the freedom of speech but I appeal for kindness. What do we really know about this relationship? Do we know the nuances?” said the TV host, who also counts himself as a friend of the actress.
“The narrative is not about Bea [being] the problem kaya sila naghiwalay. Sa pagkakaalam ko, si Bea gustong ma-save ang relationship na ‘to. Bea wants this to work,” he further said.
(The narrative is not about Bea being the problem that’s why they broke up. As far as I know, Bea wants to save this relationship. Bea wants this to work.)
He also said that Roque, on the other hand, doesn’t deserve to be painted as someone who “doesn’t deserve” to be in a relationship with Alonzo.
“Punta naman tayo kay Dominic, walang pera, hindi sikat, hindi karapat-dapat kay Bea (Let’s go to Dominic, he’s accused of having no money, not being popular, and not being right for Bea). “[That’s] cruel. You have the right to comment and to share your opinion but let’s exercise prudence and kindness.”
Reconciliation?
While touching on the possibility of them getting back together, Abunda said there’s a chance that it would happen but “no wedding” will take place this year.
“Kung halimbawa, mag-ayos ang dalawang ito, from my sources, sigurado ako, kapag nagkaayos si Bea at saka si Dominic (If ever Bea and Dominic patch things up), no wedding is going to happen this year. Let’s continue to pray what’s best for them,” he said.
Alonzo confirmed her relationship with Roque in 2021 although they were speculated to have been dating since 2020. The couple got engaged at the Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar in Bataan in July 2023.
The ex-couple’s breakup, which was reported on Feb. 6, came days after they were hounded with speculations on their relationship as they appeared to be vague about the details of their wedding. Alonzo was also spotted to not be wearing her engagement ring on multiple occasions.
