Toni Gonzaga lauds husband Paul Soriano for ‘refilling’ her wallet with cash

Toni Gonzaga disclosed that her husband, film director Paul Soriano, is the type of partner who “refills her wallet” with cash whenever she runs out of money.

In a bag raid video with ABS-CBN segment producer Darla Sauler, Gonzaga shared that Soriano replenishes her wallet with cash as she’s not fond of paying things through this form of payment.

“Tingnan natin kung may cash [‘yung wallet ko]. Si Paul ang nagre-refill ng pera ko (Let’s see if there’s cash in my wallet because it’s Paul who refills it with cash),” she said while showing her luxury wallet to Sauler.

The actress-host then asked if it was a normal thing among married couples to willingly give money when one is in need.

“May ganun ba kayong mga asawa? ‘Yung siya ang naglalagay ng pera sa wallet niyo kasi alam niyang kulang-kulang na naman. Hindi kayo maglalagay ng pera sa wallet,” she said. (Do you have that kind of partner wherein he simply puts money in your wallet because he sees that you need it? That you don’t have to be the one to put money in your wallet.)

Sauler said what’s normal among married couples is that one would ask for money from their spouses. But Gonzaga said Soriano is a generous partner who gives her cash because she prefers to pay for things using her card.

“Siya nire-refill kasi alam niyang hindi ako ma-cash. Noong dating pa lang kami, lagi akong gan’un. Wala akong cash, card lang lagi kong dala,” she said while noting Soriano only “refills” her wallet when she needs to go out.

“Kapag aalis lang ako… Alam niya kapag gabi aalis ako kinabukasan. Pag pina-check ko ‘yung bag ko, sasabihin ko sa assistant, ‘check mo ‘yung wallet ko.’ Tapos sasabihin ng assistant ko, ‘ni-refill na po ni direk,’” she further added.

(He refills my wallet because he knows that I’m not fond of using cash. When we were still dating, I would tell my assistant, “Please check my wallet.” Then my assistant would tell me, “Direk has refilled it already.”)

The actress-host and Soriano wed in a lavish ceremony in Taytay, Rizal in June 2015. They welcomed their first child Seve in October 2016, and then their second child Paulina Celestine in August 2023.
