Nine years after the release of her hit song “Ikaw,” Yeng Constantino is set to treat her fans to another love song entitled “Kung Uulitin,” which she wrote for her husband Yan Asuncion.
The singer announced her upcoming track, which is already available for pre-save on several streaming platforms, via her Instagram Stories on Tuesday, Jan. 30. The release date has yet to be disclosed as of this writing.
“After [nine] years nakasulat ulit ng kanta para sa asawa ko!” she said in the caption. (I wrote a song for my husband again after nine years!)
“Ang IKAW ay nasulat ko bago kami ikasal at tungkol sa bagong relationship namin noon, itong ‘KUNG UULITIN’ naman ay about sa hiwaga ng pag-ibig na kahit sobrang tagal na eh di parin nakakasawa mahalin ang taong pinili ko,” she continued.
(I wrote “Ikaw” before we got married. It was about our new relationship at the time. “Kung Uulitin,” on the other hand, is about the wonders of love; how, even after several years, my love for him still feels new.)
Constantino noted that the song speaks about her wish to experience one more lifetime of loving Asuncion despite the challenges.
“I hope this song will resound in your hearts the same way ‘IKAW’ did all those years ago,” she concluded.
Constantino also gave a glimpse of the recording session for the song via a separate post. The singer also appears to have collaborated with former Eraserheads members Raymund Marasigan and Buddy Zabala for the track.
Constantino and Asuncion have been married for about nine years. They tied the knot at Hacienda Isabella in Indang, Cavite, in February 2015.
In 2023, Constantino acquired her catalog from ABS-CBN’s music label Star Music, a move to “secure [her] future.” The singer then thanked the label for allowing her to do so without having animosity between them.
Constantino, known for her songs “Chinito,” “Cool Off,” “Babay” and “Jeepney Love Story,” among others, is now signed with Republic Records Philippines.
