Kapuso drama queens Bea Alonzo and Carla Abellana will join forces for the very first time as they headline the upcoming primetime series “Widows’ War.”

On Tuesday, January 23, the murder mystery series held its first story conference and Alonzo took to Instagram to express her enthusiasm working with Abellana.

“We had a storycon for our new series, “Widow’s War,” yesterday. I’m excited to explore a different genre on TV. It will be a spinoff of the well-loved series, “Royal Blood” and “Widow’s Web.” And I’m happy that I’ll finally be able to work with @carlaangeline,” she wrote.

Abellana echoed the “One More Chance” star’s sentiment by responding back, “A surreal and wonderful blessing for me to be working with you, Bea. I still can’t believe this is happening,”

Earlier this month, the “My Husband’s Lover” actress first opened up about her upcoming project with Alonzo as she debunked the rumors that she would be transferring to another network.

Abellana shared an Instagram reel of “Widow’s War” and said that she remains a Kapuso and she is excited to work with the “Four Sisters and a Wedding” star.

The upcoming series officially unveiled its full cast lineup in a “24-Oras” report on Wednesday night, January 24. It will be star-studded with the presence of Jean Garcia, Jackie Lou Blanco, Tonton Gutierrez, Mark Herras, Jeric Gonzales, Juancho Triviño, Lito Pimentel, Rita Daniela, Timmy Cruz, Lovely Rivero, James Graham, Charlie Fleming, Matthew Uy, and Benjamin Alves.

“Widows’ War” will be directed by Zig Dulay, the director of GMA’s acclaimed series “Maria Clara at Ibarra,” and Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2023 Best Picture “Firefly.”

As the primetime series gears up to shoot, Abellana, in the meantime, is starring in the afternoon series “Stolen Life,” while Alonzo was last seen in the GMA Network-Viu Philippines collaboration “Love Before Sunrise.”
