Annabelle Rama was emotional as she assured Alexa Gutierrez, her daughter-in-law diagnosed with leukemia, that she will take care of the latter’s children while she seeks treatment for the disease.
“Sorry Alexa, ngayon lang ako nag-comment sayo kasi sobrang affected ako sa nangyari sayo. Hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala,” Rama said in an open letter shared on her Instagram page on Tuesday, Jan. 23.
(Sorry, Alexa. I am speaking about your condition just now because I have been so affected with what’s happening. I still can’t believe it.)
Rama recalled how Alexa has been living with them since when she became the girlfriend of the talent manager’s son Elvis. Rama also noted that she loves Alexa like her own child.
“Alam mong hindi ako vocal sa nararamdaman ko, pero alam kong alam mo na mahal kita na parang anak ko na. Kaya alam kong gagaling ka,” the Gutierrez matriarch stated. “Habang pinapatext ko ito hindi ko mapigilan umiyak. I love you Alexa!”
(I am not expressive when it comes to my emotions, but I know that you’re aware that I love you like my own child. I know you’ll get better. I can’t stop crying while typing this message. I love you, Alexa!”
Rama further told Alexa that even though she’s bald due to chemotherapy, she still looks pretty for their family.
“Huwag kang mag-alala sa mga bata. Nandito kami ni Eddie para subaybayan ang mga anak mo habang nagpapagaling ka pa,” Rama vowed. (Do not worry about your kids. Eddie and I are here to watch over them while you recover.)
Through her Instagram, Alexa opened up about her condition, saying she decided to completely shave her hair after seeing it “fall in chunks.”
“I was getting mad and wanted to change my emotions quickly. We went for it and decided time for the new look. I feel much happier that we did it,” she stated.
“Still a bit messy on top since it was spur of the moment thing done by my love. Most importantly, [Elvis] and I love the look,” she added.
Alexa also disclosed in a separate post that she already underwent her last chemotherapy session for the month of January.
Ruffa Gutierrez earlier asked for prayers for sister-in-law Alexa, and disclosed that the latter is being treated at a hospital in Taguig.
Alexa and Elvis, who got married in 2015, have two children together named Aria and Ezra.
