Liza Soberano puts up production studio, has 7 projects ‘in development’
Liza Soberano is full of excitement as she’s ready to kick off 2024 in full gear — starting with the opening of her production studio and keeping herself busy with seven on- and off-screen projects in development.
Soberano made the revelation during her interview with entertainment journalist Gretchen Fullido, uploaded on ABS-CBN News’ YouTube channel on Saturday, Jan. 19, saying some of her projects involve her producing for other artists.
“I have an upcoming project, it’s a US-based production. It will be filmed here in the Philippines,” she said. “I started my own production studio and I currently have 7 projects in development. Some of which I will be acting in, some of them I will be completely on the back-end producing them for other artists.”
The actress also admitted there were moments she neglected her “personal life and well-being,” as she got too immersed in her work in hopes of achieving “career advancement.”
“This time, I’m determined to immerse myself in the process, to relish it, and to look back without any regrets, remembering the enjoyable and remarkable projects I’ve been part of,” she said.

My wish for this year is to welcome more blessings and to truly enjoy every moment.”
Soberano also expressed her gratitude to her fans in her solo career, as well as fans of LizQuen, her love team with longtime beau Enrique Gil, who supported her in the many seasons of her career.
“I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all my solo fans who have joined me through this period of transition and throughout the journey of building my career outside of the Philippines,” she said. “Of course, to my LizQuen fans, that even if I haven’t been doing love team projects, they have been there for me.”
‘Instant connection’
Among Soberano’s most-awaited projects in the year is her upcoming film “Lisa Frankenstein” where she’ll take on the role of Taffy, the stepsister of Kathryn Newton’s Lisa Swallows.
Taffy is said to be a queen bee cheerleader who’s supportive of Lisa’s endeavors, and is described by the film’s screenwriter Diablo Cody as a “beacon of positivity.” “I had an instant connection with her (Taffy). She’s such a fun character to play,” she said in a release.
“Her intentions are always kind. She’s more protective of Lisa than anyone else in the film, other than the Creature,” she said. “Lisa resents Taffy because she’s effortlessly beautiful and popular, but Lisa eventually comes to realize that her ire is misdirected. I felt that having Taffy be a standard ‘mean popular girl’ would be uninteresting.”
The film, which also stars “Riverdale” and “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody” star Cole Sprouse, will premiere on Feb. 7.
