MANILA, Philippines—A Pasay court ordered the arrest of vlogger and artist Toni Fowler on Friday, Jan. 19, after an arrest warrant was issued arising from a complaint of alleged indecency and obscenity.

According to the arrest warrant penned by Pasay City Branch 108 Presiding Judge Albert Cansino, Fowler’s arrest was ordered due to violations of Article 201 of the Revised Penal Code, or “immoral doctrines, obscene publications and exhibitions and indecent shows,” in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

Cansino set bail for the case at P120,000.

“In the entirety of the music videos, the Respondent exhibited lewd and obscene scenes or actions that are solely appealing to the prurient interest – the Respondent’s clothes, appearances, and actions being sexually explicit,” the resolution said.

In September 2023, the Kapisanan ng Social Media Broadcasters ng Pilipinas lodged a complaint against Fowler for obscenity and indecent shows in her music videos.

“The Complainant posits further that the actions of the Respondent in the said videos are certainly obscene and lewd, and are aggravated by the fact that she has done such acts in a platform where minor children may have unbridled access thereto, and that a minor was even allegedly involved in the recording of the said music videos,” the resolution said.

Fowler has filed a counter-affidavit, which argued that the themes in her videos represented her “sexual expression” as well as empowerment toward women and single mothers.

“The Respondent maintains that this is a strong message against the degradation and objectification of women which has become prevalent in popular media,” it said.
