Jocelyn Cubales, a 69-year-old fashion designer, will compete against 14 other candidates for this year’s Miss Universe Philippines-Quezon City title.

The pageant organizers introduced Cubales and the rest of its official lineup through its Facebook page on Tuesday, Jan. 9.

“At 69 years old, she believes that the younger generation can learn a lot from her life experiences, most especially grit,” it said of Cubales.

The MUPHQC competition is not Cubales’ first beauty pageant stint as she also reportedly joined the Mrs. Universe competition in 2017.

In the city pageant, Cubales is up against Sherine Legal, Jamaica Ramallosa, Niña Marie Ortiz, Genesis Durana, Abigail Cajegas, Jeiah Myrene Totañes, Carmel Anne Aquino, Marinella Catangay, Ellaine Marie Narte, Kristin Wyeth Marie Baconawa, Lorraine Ojimba, Nicole Trisha, Stef Monce and Cam Lagmay

Whoever wins the title on the coronation night scheduled on Feb. 5 will represent Quezon City in the Miss Universe Philippines competition.

The Miss Universe Organization removed the age limit across all Miss Universe associated pageants in September last year.

The national organization then expressed its support for the new direction, saying “eliminating the age limit opens up a world of possibilities, allowing more women to vie for the prestigious title.”
