Selena Gomez serves ‘tea’ at Golden Globes, as celebrity couples bring out PDA

While half the world is trying to crucify Filipino-American stand-up comedian Jo Koy for his supposed dismal hosting of this year’s Golden Globe Awards, the other half was busy trying to catch the tea being spilled on the sidelines of one of America’s biggest entertainment events.

One particular “tea” that got knocked over was that of Selena Gomez being denied a photo opportunity with Timothee Chalamet, who was a nominee for Best Actor for “Wonka.” Chalamet lost to Paul Giamatti from “The Holdovers.”

The alleged snub circulated online alongside a now-viral video of Gomez appearing to be engaging in gossip talk with her BFF, Taylor Swift, and Kaleigh Sperry.

On Twitter, netizens alleged the “Who Says” was talking to Swift and Sperry about how Chalamet’s plus-one that night, Kylie Jenner, supposedly prevented Gomez from taking her picture with the actor. The video, however, has no audio so the topic of their actual conversation could not be ascertained.

In a report by entertainment portal Page Six, a lip reader claimed that the three women were discussing Jenner and Chalamet, where Gomez appeared to have mouthed the word “no.” Sperry appeared to respond with, “With Timothee?” to which Gomez replied with an emphatic nod.

However, People magazine claimed that a close source had denied that the three women were talking about the new couple, saying that Gomez “never even saw or spoke to them” to even reference them in her intimate conversation with her best friends.

The incident appeared to highlight the seeming “bad blood” between Gomez and Jenner, who in February 2023 together with her friend Hailey Baldwin-Bieber mocked the “Only Murders in the Building” star’s eyebrows, an allegation that she denied afterwards. Hailey is the current wife of Gomez’s ex-boyfriend, Justin Bieber.

Chalamet and Jenner appeared oblivious to whether or not Gomez, Swift and Sperry were gossiping about them, as the couple was too busy paying close attention to one another.

But it wasn’t just Chalamet and Jenner who were not holding back with public display of affection, as Gomez, too, brought her beau, Benny Blanco, with her. Although they did not walk the red carpet together, the “Lose You to Love Me” singer shared a backstage photo of them getting cozy.

Too bad for Swift, though, as her boyfriend, professional footballer Travis Kelce had a game that same night, also in Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, Golden Globe winner Ali Wong made her first public appearance with new boyfriend Bill Hader, and for the first time since their marriage, Naomi Watts and Billy Crudup attended the annual event together.

Long-term couples Emily Blunt and John Krasinksi, and Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck also graced the event.

Meanwhile, actor-director Justin Hartley, who was a presenter, and sweetheart Sofia Pernas also showed some loving during the awards night.
