Kelly Clarkson shares weight-loss journey after move to New York
“American Idol” alumna Kelly Clarkson has recently lost unwanted pounds and she attributed her weight loss to her family’s decision to relocate to New York City from Los Angeles in California.
In a new interview with People magazine, Clarkson shared her wellness journey, which included a lot of walking in the Big Apple, as well as hot and cold body conditioning.
“Walking in the city is quite the workout. I’m really into infrared saunas right now. And I just got a cold plunge because everybody wore me down,” she said.
After making headlines for her transformation, the “A Moment Like This” singer said that eating a healthy mix and listening to her doctor were the main ingredients that made her lose weight.
“I dropped weight because I’ve been listening to my doctor—a couple years I didn’t. And 90% of the time, I’m really good at it because a protein diet is good for me anyway. I’m a Texas girl, so I like meat—sorry, vegetarians in the world!” said Clarkson.

I needed it for myself and my family as well. My kids are thriving here. We’re just doing so much better, and we needed a fresh start,” she shared.
In a new report released by the New York Post, Clarkson’s ex-husband allegedly told the Grammy award-winning singer that she was not sexy enough to be a coach on “The Voice,” as the show’s executives would want “someone sexy,” like Rihanna.
Clarkson made the claim in 2023 to a California labor commissioner, saying, “Well, a wife doesn’t forget a time she gets told she’s not a sex symbol, so that stays.”
After nearly seven years of marriage, the ‘Breakaway’ singer filed for divorce from Blackstock in June 2020. They settled their separation in March 2022, after a battle over custody of their children and one of their shared properties in Montana.
