Pop icon Britney Spears denied that she will release a new album, announcing on Instagram that she would never return to the music industry.

In a post on January 4, Spears said her supposed comeback is “trash,” but that she is not completely closing her door to the music industry since she is lately working behind the scenes.

“Just so we’re clear, most of the news is trash!!! They keep saying I’m turning to random people to do a new album. I will never return to the music industry!!!” she said.

Despite not doing music for herself, the ‘Princess of Pop’ revealed that she is ghostwriting songs for other people, noting she has written more than 20 songs already.

“When I write, I write for fun or I write for other people!!! For those of you who have read my book, there’s a lot that you don’t know about me. I’ve written over 20 songs for other people over the past two years!!! I’m a ghostwriter, and I honestly enjoy it that way!!!” she said.

Spears has also debunked the rumors that her memoir “The Woman in Me” was released without her consent.

“People are also saying MY BOOK WAS RELEASED WITHOUT MY APPROVAL ILLEGALLY, and that’s far from the truth. Have you read the news these days??? I’m so loved and blessed!!!” wrote the singer.

In 2021, Spears’ 13-year conservatorship, which sparked the “#FreeBritney” movement, was officially terminated, allowing the award-winning singer to regain control of her life.

The “Oops!… I Did It Again” singer said she now looks forward to her newfound freedom after her release from the conservatorship amid widespread calls from fans all over the world.

In the span of her musical career, the 42-year-old wrote some of her hits, “Anticipating,” “Everytime,” “Sometimes,” and “That’s Where You Take Me,” among others.

Last year, Spears’ memoir was a national bestseller, with over 1.1 million copies sold in its first week of release.
