Jennica Garcia said her split from husband Alwyn Uytingco made her realize a deeper love for acting after years of hiatus from the industry to focus on her family.

Sitting down with her mother, Jean Garcia, for Stars on Stars, the veteran actress asked her daughter at what point she realized that she loved or wanted to act.

“Nung nahiwalay ako sa asawa. Natatawa na lang ako ngayon. Pero doon ko lang talaga na-realize,” said Jennica.

The “Dirty Linen” star explained that even though she had been acting before, she was just doing it for the money, but now that she has returned full-time, she feels differently toward the industry.

“Dati kasi parang wala lang ako ibang alam gawin. Marami akong alam gawin, I’m sorry. Parang marami akong alam gawin para maging means ng money, but for some reason pag-aartista ‘yung alam ko na pinaka malaking amount. Then after, ‘yung pagbalik ko last year, doon ko nalaman [na gusto ko pala talaga mag-act,” she said.

Jennica also weighed in on her new-found responsibility to consider acting more seriously, noting that being able to provide for her kids is what drives her to work.

“And siguro ‘yung reason ko rin for working now is different. Because before the reason I wanted to work was I wanted to buy toys pero ‘yung reason ko kasi now I have two kids na. Iba ‘yung drive.” she affirmed.

The 34-year-old actress also reflected on being the daughter of an actress who already has a name in the industry, which she believes has made things somehow easier for her.

“Oo naman. One of the things that I’m really grateful for, iba kasi kapag alam nila na anak ka ni Jean Garcia. Hindi na ganon kahirap kumpara doon sa ibang artists na nag-aaudition talaga to get a role, to bag a job. So thank you mama.” she expressed.
