Some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry, including Nadine Lustre, Jennie Kim of Blackpink, and SB19, are excited to start the year on a brighter note as they rang in the New Year by joining in countdown parties, taking time off the limelight with their loved ones, and welcoming 2024 with hope.

Local and international stars took to their social media accounts to wish their followers a Happy New Year while reflecting on how the past year has been for them.

Here are some of our favorite stars enjoying the first day of the year with their loved ones or participating in New Year’s countdown parties.

Nadine Lustre

Nadine Lustre, donning a figure-hugging nude dress, welcomed the New Year with a glass of wine while looking at a firework display by the window, as seen on the Instagram Story of her boyfriend, Christophe Bariou.

Blackpink’s Jennie

Blackpink’s Jennie enjoyed a quiet New Year’s celebration walking with her dog Kuma and playing in the snow, as seen on her Instagram account.

“Thank you so much for this year, Blinks,” she wrote, referring to her fans in a separate note. “I’ll try to move to be even better next year. Let’s all be healthy and happy.”

Marian Rivera

Marian Rivera is looking forward to “restarting” the New Year, in apparent reference to her Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry “Rewind,” by holding a peaceful countdown party with her husband Dingdong Dantes and her children Zia and Sixto.

“Cheers to a year filled with laughter, love, and endless adventures! Happy New Year from #DantesSquad,” she wrote.

The actress’ son also rang in the New Year with a hopeful message—while raising his glass—which earned the applause of his loved ones, as seen in a separate post.

“To kindness and love— the things we need most,” he said.

Jayda Avanzado

Singer-actress Jayda Avanzado admitted there were “too many highlights” to note in the past year, but her “experiences, connections, [and] reconnections” turned out to be a catalyst for making her into a better person.

“I want to carry the mindset that everything happens for a reason, and time will always eventually tell. Some things are meant to stay, and some are meant to pass by and serve whatever their temporary purpose in your life is,” she wrote.

Avanzado also spoke about starting the year on a “clean slate” in a separate post.

SB19

Pablo, Josh, Stell, Ken and Justin of SB19 hinted at the release of their upcoming album “Simula at Wakas” by compiling their unforgettable moments of the past year on an Instagram Reel, which includes their “Pagtatag” world tour, “Pagtatag” media, and taking part of their smash hit “Gento.”

“2023 has its ups and downs, cue ‘Wild Tonight,’” they wrote, referring to Josh’s single. “But one thing’s for sure: it made our bond even stronger. Simula pa lang ito, A’TIN! Marami pa tayong tatahakin hanggang sa wakas (This is just the beginning. We’ll have more journeys until the end)!”

The quintet was among the performers of the New Year’s Countdown Party in Makati with Regine Velasquez.

“That was a blast! Magkita-kita ulit tayo mamaya para sa (Let’s see each other later for the) countdown! Let’s start the year 2024 together,” their post read.

Chie Filomeno

Chie Filomeno drew laughs after welcoming the New Year by jumping which, according to superstition, would make you taller.

“Happy New Year!! Talon na (It’s time to jump),” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

aespa

aespa—consisting of Karina, Winter, Giselle and Ningning—said hello to the New Year by participating in MBC Gayo Daejun, an annual event where K-pop groups perform for fans through special stages and collaborations.

“Happy New Year MY,” they wrote on X.

Maine Mendoza

The past year turned out to be a treat for Maine Mendoza, as seen on her 2023 highlights reel on Instagram, which includes her wedding to actor-politician Arjo Atayde, hosting in TV5 noontime show “EAT,” and enjoying trips.

“2023,” she captioned her post with a white heart emoji.

Blackpink’s Lisa

Blackpink’s Lisa said 2023 has been “unforgettable” for her, while sharing a glimpse of what seemed to be memories she would never forget in the past year, on Instagram.

Regine Velasquez

Regine Velasquez—who did an updated rendition of the song “Written in the Sand” at a New Year’s countdown party in Makati—promised her fans on X that she would always be “mentally present” with her upcoming activities.

“I don’t know time’s so fast [time flies]. I feel like I’m missing out on a lot of important things in my life. Parang lagi akong tulog ba (It’s like I’m always asleep),” she wrote. “But I have to say daming blessings (I had a lot of blessings) last year thank you Lord.”

The singer also hoped that 2024 would be a year in which she will “stop worrying about things that I cannot control,” in her post.

“So again I shall try my very best to be more aware or awake this year so I can enjoy life more. Maybe I should stop worrying about things that I cannot control. So I can best enjoy God’s blessings more. Happy New Year to all God bless po,” she added.

Maris Racal

On Instagram, Maris Racal expressed her gratitude for the “roles” she portrayed in the past year, including Blesilda or Whitney in “Here Comes the Groom,” Sarah in “Simula sa Gitna,” Irene Tiu in “Can’t Buy Me Love,” and Sunshine in what seemed to be her new project “Gymnast.”

“Thank you sa lahat ng mga directors at production houses sa tiwala. Mahal ko kayong lahat (Thank you to all the directors and production houses for the trust. I love you all),” she wrote.
