Mariel Rodriguez mourns mother’s death ahead of Christmas

Mariel Rodriguez expressed grief as her mother, April, died days before Christmas.
The actress-TV host announced the death of her mother through her Instagram page on Saturday, Dec. 23.
Rodriguez showed photos of April with her as well as those with Isabella and Gabriella, Rodriguez’s daughters with actor-tuned-politician Robin Padilla.
“Thanks for always being proud of me. Rest now mom,” Rodriguez captioned her post.

Rodriguez also compiled photos of April’s moments with their family through a video, adding Beth Middler’s “Wind Beneath My Wings” as background song.
“Mom,” she wrote alongside a white heart emoji.

Rodriguez received an outpouring of prayers and condolences from fellow celebrities including sisters Toni and Alex Gonzaga, Bianca Gonzalez, Maxene Magalona, Karla Estrada, Vina Morales and Marjorie Barretto.

Rodriguez’s sister, events specialist Kaye Termulo Garcia, also paid tribute to their mom by showing a photo of her from her younger days.

No further details on April’s death, as well as her wake were immediately given.
Just over a month ago, Rodriguez and Padilla celebrated the birthday of their daughters in Hong Kong Disneyland with their families and loved ones.
