Joey de Leon once again made a dig at the “Eat Bulaga” show of their erstwhile production company, TAPE Inc. on GMA, saying this Christmas, his wish is for the “other show” to change its title given the ruling on their trademark battle.
De Leon, one-third of the TVJ (Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto and De Leon) comedic trio, rang in the holidays with early greetings to fans via his Instagram page on Saturday, Dec. 23. The veteran TV host showed paintings of clowns along with the greeting “Happy New Year. Love, @angpoetnyo.”
“Syempre Maligayang Pasko rin sa lahat,” he added in the caption. “Ang wish ko ngayong Pasko—sana magbago na… magbago na… MAGBAGO NA NG TITLE yung ibang show!”
(And of course, a Merry Christmas also to all. This Christmas, I wish that the other show would already change its title!)
“Joke lang! Healthy 2024 to all!” he further said.
The Intellectual Property Office (IPOPHL) released on Dec. 4 its ruling that cancels TAPE’s Eat Bulaga trademark registration, favoring the position of the comedic trio that they are the rightful owners of the trademark.
The IPOPHL, in a separate case, also dismissed the production company’s appeal on the trademark application for entertainment services filed by De Leon.
TAPE’s camp said it will appeal the cancellation of trademark registration, and that it will continue using the Eat Bulaga title pending appeal.
