Saab Magalona to undergo surgery due to rare congenital condition
Saab Magalona was rushed to a hospital in Kalibo after she felt dizzy, vomited and passed out due to Meckel’s Diverticulum, a rare congenital condition she has been diagnosed with.
According to Cleveland Clinic, Meckel’s Diverticulum is an “outpouching or bulge in the lower part of the small intestine” which occurs in about 2% to 3% of the general population.
Magalona, who earlier flew to Boracay with her family, narrated via her Instagram page on Thursday, Dec. 20, how she looked very pale and was palpitating before boarding their flight to the island.
Despite how she was feeling, Magalona decided to go on with their trip as her blood pressure and temperature came out normal at the time.
“I got dizzy when we got off the plane, again when we got off the boat, and I had to use a wheelchair after using the stairs at the hotel,” she recalled. “I took a long nap and when I woke up, I used the toilet, vomited and passed out.”

Magalona suspects that her condition, which causes internal bleeding, was triggered by stress. She then advised her followers to listen to their bodies and prioritize their health.
“My hemoglobin is back to normal, vital signs have been stable for days, just waiting for clearance so we can get back to Manila and undergo surgery,” she stated.
“Thank you Lord for giving me another day. For now I will relax, heal, and watch ‘Masterchef’ while holding hands with my hero,” she concluded, referring to her musician husband Bacarro, who is with her in the hospital.
