(We are running this guide to help you plan your movie-viewing activity during the holidays. The 49th Metro Manila Film Festival, or MMFF, Christmas Edition runs from Dec. 25 to Jan. 7, 2024.)Directed by Mae Cruz-Alviar; written by Enrico Santos; starring Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera, Pepe Herrera, Lito Pimentel, Joross Gamboa, Ariel Ureta, Coney Reyes, Ina Feleo, Via Antonio and Gil Aguedan Jr.; produced by Star Cinema, AgostoDos Pictures and APT Entertainment.

Dantes and Rivera play a couple whose marriage is on the rocks. John does not treat Mary well, and she seems to suffer in silence. The trailer shows a car accident followed by happy memories of the couple before their relationship began to fall apart. Mary does not survive the car crash. Later, John is given the chance to turn back time for one day in order to make things right by his wife.

Workaholic vs ‘give-aholic’

“I can see that Dong really loves what he does. He hasn’t changed since the time we first worked together, but he is such a better actor now,” said Rivera when asked what it’s like working with her husband, whom she first met in 2007 while working on the local adaptation of “Marimar.” “While Dong’s character is a workaholic, Mary is a ‘give-aholic.’ I’m glad to have worked with Dong on this one. I wouldn’t have played Mary well if not for him.”

“John is a good provider, but his work is his priority,” said Dantes. “He always has something to do. Whenever he is at home, he would always frown at his family … until something happens.”

Meanwhile, if he would be given a chance to return to a particular time in his life, Dantes said he would gladly return to the time when their children, Zia and Ziggy, were born. “It’s because I want to extend our time together. I’m not saying I don’t want them to grow up because that’s inevitable. I just want to go back to those two moments again and again,” he said. —MARINEL CRUZ INQ
