The 49th edition of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) will see a local history made as the Parade of Stars journeys through the four CAMANAVA (Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, and Valenzuela) cities for the very first time in the festival’s history.

Before the 10 official entries grace the Philippine cinemas nationwide, a motorcade featuring the movie stars carried by their captivating floats will entertain people on the street as they promote their respective films on Dec. 16.

Affected roads

Organized by the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the agency released alternate traffic routes to make way for MMFF’s Parade of Stars. MMDA will implement temporary lane closures and counterflow from 12 pm to 8 pm on December 16 for the following roads: C-4 Road (from Navotas Centennial Park to A Mabini St.), Samson Road (from A Mabini St. to Monumento Circle), and Mc Arthur Highway (from Monumento Circle to C. Santos Street). The said roads will only be opened after all floats have passed.

“With the expected influx of spectators and movie fans, we have prepared a traffic management plan to mitigate the effects on vehicular flow,” said MMDA Acting Chairman and concurrent MMFF Over-all Chairman Don Artes.

One thousand MMDA personnel are also expected to be deployed for crowd control and to ensure the safety of all participants in the parade.

The MMFF will run from December 25 to January 7, 2024, in more than 100 cinemas nationwide, with 10 official entries: A Mother and Son’s Story, (K)Ampon, Penduko, Rewind, Becky and Badette, Broken Hearts Trip, Firefly, GomBurZa, Mallari, and When I Met You in Tokyo.
