Daniel Matsunaga had to remind fans that he has a different surname from Daniel Padilla, after the Brazilian-Japanese model’s social media page was flooded with netizens who were asking about his supposed breakup with actress Kathryn Bernardo.
Matsunaga was apparently bombarded with messages after Padilla and Bernardo confirmed their breakup to the public on Thursday, Nov. 30.
“Guys, there are many Daniels sa buong mundo. Iba po ‘yung surname ko talaga, promise,” Matsunaga said on his Instagram page, while showing messages sent to him by curious and disappointed netizens grieving over Kathniel’s breakup.
Fans and fellow celebrities found Matsunaga’s mistaken identity situation hilarious, with some netizens saying that the actor-model’s post made them laugh despite the emotional breakup of Padilla and Bernardo.

Padilla and Bernardo, who had been in a relationship since 2012, earlier announced their split after weeks of speculations from fans.
The actress admitted that they “have been drifting apart for a while now,” noting that it would not be fair if they would pretend that everything is still the same.
For his part, Padilla, who has been linked to other actresses, vowed that his love for Bernardo would never end.
