Arjo Atayde and Maine Mendoza’s romantic getaway caught the attention of readers in the second week of November, where the couple was seen enjoying each other’s company away from their busy schedules.
It was also a week of mixed emotions as Carla Abellana expressed her dismay about a suspicious transaction in her credit card that deducted over P600,000 from her account. Meanwhile Almira Muhlach announced her engagement to her non-showbiz partner Erwin Lim.
On the other hand, Daniel Padilla seemingly denied breakup rumors with his longtime girlfriend Kathryn Bernardo by showing support for the latter’s magazine shoot. “The Voice Kids Philippines” alum Yohance Levi Buie, meanwhile, died at the age of 17.

Earlier this month, the actor-turned-politician celebrated his 33rd birthday in an intimate gathering with friends and loved ones.
Mendoza and Atayde, who met in 2018, tied the knot in a private ceremony in Baguio City last July.
Debit on Carla Abellana’s credit card
Carla Abellana took to social media to express her dismay over a transaction amounting to $11,087.33 (P620,009) that was charged to her credit card, as she pondered how she would settle such a substantial amount.
“Lord, how will I pay for the $11,087.33 that was charged to my BDO Mastercard?” the actress said on her Threads page last Nov. 10, referring to the banking giant.
While it was not immediately stated whether or not the transaction was unauthorized, Abellana further expressed disappointment in her two succeeding posts which read “Heartbreaking” and “Losing hope.”
Curious netizens chimed in on the matter to ask what happened, although the actress has yet to expound as of this writing.
Almira Muhlach’s engagement
Almira Muhlach is finally engaged after she said yes to her non-showbiz boyfriend Erwin Lim’s marriage proposal in a desert resort in Saudi Arabia.
The actress announced their engagement by showing her diamond ring through her Instagram account last Nov. 9.
“Officially engaged,” she captioned her post, adding the Bible verse: “When the time is right, I the Lord will make it happen.”
Muhlach was previously married to former basketball star Bong Alvarez. The pair, who separated in 2011, have three daughters together, namely Alyssa, Illa and Inna.
Daniel Padilla, Kathryn Bernardo defy split rumors
Daniel Padilla dismissed rumors of his alleged breakup with his girlfriend, actress Kathryn Bernardo, as he admired the latter and expressed support for her recent fashion magazine cover.
The actor shared a video of Bernardo speaking to Preview magazine about the expectations and pressure from the public, as seen on his Instagram Stories last Nov. 10. Padilla added in his post an animated photo of a cat, which appears to be a reference to Bernardo’s nickname “Kath.”
This came amid speculations that the power couple have parted ways, which comedian-talent manager Ogie Diaz spoke about via his YouTube vlog last Nov. 8.
“Hanggang ngayon marami pa ring nangungulit sa amin: ‘Sina Kathryn at Daniel Padilla pa rin ba?’” Diaz said. “Talagang pinag-uusapan sa social media ‘yung diumano nga’y hiwalayan ni Kathryn at ni Daniel na ang dahilan daw ay si—syempre hindi naman ito confirmed, kaya dapat marinig din natin ang panig nila… Kasi nili-link si Daniel kay Andrea Brillantes.”
“May nagchika pa sa akin na pasikretong nagkikita si Daniel at si Andrea,” he continued.
Diaz was met with criticisms from fans of the couple, dubbed as Kathniel, for supposedly citing unconfirmed information. Diaz then stressed in a separate vlog that he is expecting the celebrities to quash the rumors, as well as hoping alongside fans that the speculations are not true.
Yohance Levi Buie, 17
Singer-actor Yohance Levi Buie, who was among the contestants of “The Voice Kids Philippines” in 2016, died on Nov. 10, less than a month before his 18th birthday.
Buie’s passing was confirmed by Virtual Playground Global, the talent management company that managed him, on Instagram last Nov. 11.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of YOHANCE LEVI A. BUIE. We are deeply saddened by this loss, and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and loved ones during this difficult time,” the statement read.
“Yohance Buie’s remains will be available for viewing at St. Peter’s Antipolo. We welcome friends, family, and well-wishers to pay their respects and honor his memory during this time of mourning,” it added.
The cause of his death was not given, but the talent management company concluded its statement by reminding those who are experiencing mental distress to seek help, providing the contact numbers of the National Center for Mental Health (NCMH).
After being part of the ABS-CBN reality talent competition, Buie also ventured into acting and starred in the 2022 action-thriller film “Day Zero” as well as the 2023 miniseries “The Day I Loved You.”
