Despite his absence from Rivermaya’s reunion concert in February 2024, lead guitarist Perf De Castro thanked his fans for their support, while urging them to enjoy the upcoming show even though he won’t be there.
Without explaining his absence, the California-based musician said on Facebook on Tuesday, Nov. 7 that he’s glad that fans still consider him as an important member of Rivermaya.
“Eto seryoso, nakakatuwa itong past couple of days at nakakataba ng puso ang lahat ng comments at support pero OKs lang ako, men. Padayon lang (I’m serious, the comments and support that I’ve been receiving for the past couple of days warmed my heart. But I’m okay, men. Keep going),” he said in his post.
De Castro also reminded fans to not look for those who are “absent” from the band’s concert.
“Enjoyin nyo ang ihahain na show at huwag hanapin ang wala. Labyu all! Kitakits sa YouTube (Enjoy the show and don’t dwell too much on someone who’s not there. I love you all. See you on YouTube),” he said.
Now based in Los Angeles, California, the musician is among the original members of Rivermaya along with Rico Blanco, Bamboo Mañalac, Mark Escueta, and Nathan Azarcon. He left the band in 1995.
Rivermaya’s reunion concert was announced by a local concert promoter last Nov. 6, where Rico, Bamboo, Mark, and Nathan are confirmed to perform.
