The family of late comedian Joey Paras warned the public against scammers who are taking advantage of the situation and apparently asking for money using the name of the deceased.
Paras’ niece Zciara Shyne Sinchon-Fabian shared details on the wake of the actor and announced that it will be open to the public on Thursday, Nov. 2.
“To those who want to bid farewell to our dearest Tito Joey Paras, his remains are currently laid at Room 102, St. Peter Chapel Annex, New Building, SCT. Chuatoco cor Panay Ave., Quezon City,” Sinchon-Fabian said via her Facebook page on Wednesday, Nov. 1.
“Again, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude for the overwhelming support and appreciation for the kind words, caring thoughts, and prayers that we received from all of you,” she added.
Sinchon-Fabian then reminded the public that Paras’ family has provided channels where they can send their financial donations for the comedian.
“Please be aware that the channels sent to you by our immediate family are the only official accounts that we endorse for help, in light of reports of misinformation spreading and scammers taking advantage of this situation,” she said. “May we request to include him in your prayers for the eternal repose of his soul.”
In an earlier post, Sinchon-Fabian also disclosed that she had received numerous calls from suspected scammers after she shared her e-wallet details.
“Namatayan na po kami, sana ‘wag naman po tayo mangloko pa,” she appealed.

Paras, who was diagnosed with a heart condition and was given a pacemaker in 2018, died last Oct. 29 at the age of 45.
