KC Concepcion recalls asking Santa Claus to bring parents back together: ‘It never worked out’
KC Concepcion admitted she once thought that a reunion between her parents Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion would never happen, recounting how her younger self even wished to Santa Claus for the pair’s reconciliation, which was never granted.
KC spoke about how the former couple’s love story began and ended, through a vlog on her YouTube channel. The younger actress-singer filmed the video prior to Cuneta and Gabby’s reunion concert on Oct. 27, although it was released on Monday, Oct. 30.
“Unfortunately, they split up when I was a toddler,” KC said of her parents. “I remember I would ask Santa Claus to hopefully bring them back together because I so wanted to have a complete family, and I knew that they loved each other and that the Philippines is so small that they could just run into each other, and they’re both actors.”
“But it never worked out, and that’s okay,” she continued.
KC added how she doesn’t have memories of her parents being friends, so their reunion concert also came as a “surprise” to her. She then admitted that she initially had doubts if the event would push through as there were already several reunion plans prior that didn’t come about.

“When I was reading the script, parang mangiyak-ngiyak talaga ako kasi ang dami kong hindi alam about their love team and professional life. Para akong kinakabahan dahil hindi lang siya show for me, it’s my life,” she underscored.
“I’m so happy that the Lord gave us this time to reconnect, to forgive, and to really be able to turn a negative situation around to something inspiring,” she added.
The love team of Cuneta and Gabby, dubbed as “ShaGab,” began after they starred in the 1981 film “Dear Heart.” Three years after the movie was released, Cuneta and Gabby got married, then welcomed KC a year later. The former couple had their marriage annulled in 1987.
During the first show of the pair’s reunion concert, KC received a song dedication from Gabby as well as the Megastar, who apologized to her firstborn for not being able to give the younger actress a complete family.
