In her appeal to her former husband Joey de Leon for financial help, Daria Ramirez revealed she didn’t sign any document for the annulment of their marriage, but clarified that she doesn’t intend to muddle his current marriage and that she is only asking for his help.
The veteran actress spoke about her previous marriage with Joey in an interview vlog with comedian Ogie Diaz on Monday, Oct. 30, saying she spent P1 million over an annulment case in which she was “defeated.”
When Diaz asked Ramirez if the veteran TV host gave her anything after their separation, she answered, “Awan, nada, finito, kaput, waley.”
“Wala namang ni-offer e, paano ako hahabol? Wala na akong perang gagastusin,” Ramirez said. “Talo ako—[‘yung kaso ko for] annulment.
(He offered nothing, so how would I appeal? I didn’t have the money to make an appeal. I lost the case I filed regarding the annulment. I don’t know how the annulment was granted when I didn’t sign any papers.)
Ah, okay,'” she added, referring to Joey’s 2018 wedding to his wife Eileen Macapagal.
(I just laughed at it, although I initially thought, “I didn’t sign any papers but I was told that I was already annulled. Oh, he already got married, Oh, okay.”)
Ramirez revealed that it was her who asked Joey for an annulment along with monthly financial assistance and a place where she could stay—which the TV host apparently agreed to give her.
The veteran actress also appealed to Joey to give her a copy of their annulment documents, saying she still uses his surname because she does not have the papers to prove that they are already annulled.
Kailangan ko ng tulong mo,” she addressed the “E.A.T.” host. “Baka naman maalala mo ako. Hintay lang ako.”
(Don De Leon, maybe you feel it but you just shrug it off. I need your help. You might remember me. I’m just here waiting.)
(I hope you realize that I was once a part of your life. Whatever happened before, I already forgave you, didn’t I?)
Ramirez also addressed Macapagal and expressed hope that the latter would talk to Joey and help the actress with her appeal.
(I do not intend to quarrel with you. I just hope you realize that there’s a person whom you have neglected or whom you do not want to look back on, but please don’t be like that.)
(Before I decided to have this interview, I prayed very hard that this won’t lead to an argument, a quarrel. I just want to settle everything and have peace between me and Joey.)
A ‘very supportive’ father
Despite their circumstances, Ramirez underscored that Joey has been a “very supportive” father to their children, former teen actress Cheenee de Leon and actor Keempee de Leon.
“[He’s] very supportive when it comes to my children. Alam ko ‘yon; hindi niya pababayaan [ang mga anak niya],” Ramirez said, adding that their children were raised by Joey’s mom. (I know that he will never neglect his children.)
Ramirez further disclosed that she made an effort to at least save her friendship with Joey but that it didn’t work out.
(To be fair, De Leon is a kind person… I tried to talk to him but it seemed he didn’t want to listen. Maybe, he couldn’t accept that I was the first to address the problem when it should have been him. He doesn’t like it when people make decisions for him.)
Joey, who shares three children—Jako, Jio and Jocas—with Macapagal, has yet to comment on the matter as of this writing.
