Angel Guardian revealed that the producers of the upcoming “Encantadia” spinoff “Sang’gre” had to ask permission from Iza Calzado to use her daughter Deia’s name for her character, which the former Kapuso actress wholeheartedly allowed.

Guardian took to her Instagram account on Sunday, Oct. 29 to pay tribute to the now-Kapamilya Calzado, who starred as Amihan in the widely successful GMA fantasy series “Encantadia” and its sequel “Etheria,” saying her character wouldn’t be possible without the latter’s blessing.

“I don’t ever want to start saying I’m Sang’gre Deia without acknowledging the real reason why the name Deia exists,” she began, while sharing a glimpse of her script for the fantasy series.

Guardian also recalled her favorite moments with Calzado, having worked with the actress in the movies “White House” and “Shake Rattle and Roll Extreme,” saying they shared an “emotional moment” while filming the latter film.

“I found out they’d asked for her permission to use her daughter’s name, Deia. We got emotional, I saw how special Deia is to Ms. Iza. It made me [realize] how lucky I am to be carrying such a deeply special name. We talked and hugged a lot, I felt as if I was on cloud nine and dreaming, so she told me to take a picture and [that] was it,” she said.

Meanwhile, Calzado expressed her love for Guardian in the comments, while showing her support as she “[flies] high.”

“You are kind, sincere and, from the little time we spent talking about life, level headed. May these traits keep you grounded as you fly high. I am rooting for you! God be with you every step of the way,” she said. “Avisala, Sang’gre Deia! Alagaan mo ang brilyante natin (Take care of the precious crystal).”

GMA recently announced Guardian as one of the four new Sang’gres with Kelvin Miranda, Faith Da Silva, and Bianca Umali earlier this month, although details of the additional cast and storyline are yet to be disclosed.

The Kapuso star’s role is said to be keeper of the “brilyante ng hangin,” which is a superpower held by Calzado in 2005 and Kylie Padilla in 2016.
