“One More Chance: The Musical,” an adaptation of the 2007 film starring John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo, will be staged in 2024 featuring the songs of folk-pop band Ben&Ben, according to the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA).

The announcement was made after the closing performance of the play “Walang Aray,” where theater actors Gio Gahol and Marynor Madamesila did their own rendition of the cult classic’s popular line, “She had me at my worst. You had me at my best. Pero binaliwala mo ang lahat (But you wasted everything).”

The folk-pop band also made a surprise appearance at the theater where they performed their hit songs “Kathang Isip” and “Araw-Araw.”

“This is a dream come true for us,” Ben&Ben said after their performance.

“Hindi namin kabisado ang mga linya [ng ‘One More Chance’], promise! Huwag kayong mag-alala, hindi kami ang a-acting. Music lang po kami (We don’t memorize the lines of ‘One More Chance,’ we promise! Don’t worry, we’re not going to act. We’ll just be in charge of the music),” they continued, which made the audience laugh while clapping.

PETA also announced the adaptation of the hit film on its official Instagram page.

“Sa susunod na handog ng PETA (In PETA’s next production)… ‘One More Chance: The Musical’ featuring the music of Ben&Ben. An icon for an icon! Star Cinema’s cult classic meets the music of the massively popular and award-winning Filipino nine-piece band,” the post read.

Details about the theater adaptation’s cast and storyline are yet to be revealed, as of this writing.

One More Chance,” which is directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina, tells the story of longtime couple Popoy (John Lloyd Cruz) and Basha (Bea Alonzo) who are faced with maintaining and repairing the low points of their relationship after college.

A sequel called “The Second Chance” revolving around Popoy and Basha as a married couple was released in November 2015. EDV
